they say time is relative.

I could spend a lifetime writing trite trivial sayings.. ” best-layed plans” is one. Multi-tasking is real. Wearing too many hats is real. I simply cannot believe we are almost halfway through March. I have been working on listings every day, but no matter how many things I list and where I list them, it is never enough. We are adding boxes, jewelry, and hair accessories…

We have figured out where we are putting the hair forks and it is here. We will keep a few on Etsy, Amazon, and eBay, but this is where they will live.

We have been inventorying the hair forks in process and are now listing them by actual availibility. I have done three listings so far – the Seabird, the Corvus the smaller Midi-Corvus. Additionally, I have a small selection of FINISHED hair forks that are ready to ship.

We are also updating our Woods We Love page. It has been on our web site for many years, but the photos dropped off when we had a hard drive issue last summer.

I have figured out how to do the variations and things should pick up now.. We have new jewelry and new boxes that are waiting for photos. As most of our hair fork customers know, we make our hair forks, picks and pins sized for all kinds of hair and updos. Phil & I do each piece one at a time by our hands. Over the years, by responding to customer requests, we have developed a pretty extensive set of variations in size, wood species, and style of hair forks.

I know we are slow, but am grateful to all you guys and also grateful we are able to fill out this web site.

When did the rain begin? It is hard to remember, but it is still raining. We don’t malign the rain – we remember when we did not have enough and the trees cried out and curled their leaves.
Crossing the bridge, the river reminds us of its potential. great branches flow by. We have seen the river higher.
The constant rain wears on us. The ground in our yard is like an over saturated sponge. Springs are running down the neighbors from the top of the hill..

Rain is not like snow.. we don’t get to snuggle in warm blankets, with extra socks, stay home and shut the world away. When we have extended periods of intense moisture, we try to stay alert and get ahead on our projects..
We don’t close the gallery. We continue to find time in our studios.. We have fewer interruptions.. and maybe drink a little more coffee to combat the urge to crawl under a blanket and sleep.

This is February. Our grass is growing..  the creeks are rising.. some area schools are on closed because of some flooding..

where to put the hair accessories

so, most of January was spent migrating listings from “regular” Amazon to handmade at Amazon. So far, we have moved the jewelry and the pocket mirrors. (really grateful for the ability to upload listings in a text file.. still slow, but faster than doing it one at a time)

Anyway, we still have to deal with putting on the kitchenware, the boxes, and the hair accessories. I have been letting the Etsy listings fade out.. but due to some requests, now have a selection on Etsy – mostly these are “choice” listings. A “choice” listing lets you choose the wood species and functional prong length of the hair fork. Phil & I do mostly custom hair forks so it is a way for you to make your choice without much “to-do”..

We have a few hair forks on Amazon still and eBay as well.. We hope to build available inventory on all the sites – Amazon, eBay, Etsy and of course here – our “online home”.

You would not think it has to be complicated.. but I continue to plod along. We are still planning – Spring Break is sneaking up on us – and Valentine’s Day as well..

Snow Day?? Nope..

So, here we are in the mountains and it looks like we may have some snow tomorrow.. makes me shiver to think about it. People are filling up their gas tanks and buying up the bread and water in the stores. Here in our valley, we are predicted to get between one and three inches.. and then it is going to freeze – seriously freeze.

We will still open our shop, and still work online.. and still fill our orders.. Not going to be closed.. have too much to do.

Our workshop is unheated, so we will layer up and do mostly clean up and material inventory tomorrow. Today, we worked in the shop – it was 42 degrees – but no breeze..

We have some new mini-drawer boxes, and presentation boxes that will be ready to wax and buff tomorrow – that should not be a problem..

Oh, and we are beginning to put some of our boxes on Amazon again.. just a couple ..  but it is a start.

Hope you don’t have too much cold in your part of the world. We are looking forward to spring again..

This was a couple of years back – we love the silence of snow.. but don’t need this … 🙂

Home and then some

We are still working on migrating our listings to Amazon Handmade . We are also reworking and planning new stuff for this year. We are inventorying and cleaning up the workshop; allocating raw materials for specific projects and designs and our sketchbooks are filling up with potential. We are thinking about bringing back the furniture puzzle – we did not make even one in 2018.. and have had some requests.. We are also working new box and kitchenware designs in wood. Looking forward while winter is upon us.
